Lem's Monarch AGM

Rhododendron 'Lem's Monarch'
'Anna' (s) X 'Marinus Koster'
H4
AGM (1993) 2012
Flowers: 16/tall, domed truss, open funnel-shaped, 80 - 125mm wide, with 5 wavy-edged, overlapping lobes,
vivid red in bud, opening white with 10-15 mm wide vivid red margins and with two narrow rays of red spots
on the dorsal lobe; a narrow pink line down the centre of each lobe.
May June
Foliage: ovate, 178-216 - 70-83mm, flat, with slightly wavy margins, dull and moderate olive green above,
moderate yellow-green below. Similar to 'Loderi' but with green petioles.
Shrub 1.8 x 1.4m in 10 years.
Recognise by: the long extension growth and the enormous truss.
Likely to be the same clone as 'Pink Walloper'.
Fairly easy to root and free flowering from young. Leggy in deep shade. Lacks only scent -
otherwise has all the beauty of a late pink
griffithianum with good trusses.
